The Bocskai Hall is owned by the
Hungarian Reformed Church
of Australia, an independent protestant church established
in Australia by Hungarian migrants in 1949.
The
Bocskai Hall is named after Istvan
Bocskai, a Hungarian noble and statesman from
Transylvania, a prominent fighter for religious freedom in
Europe. Between 1604-06 he was the leader of an anti-Habsburg
uprising in Royal Hungary, and from 1605-06 the Prince of
Transylvania. (ref. Wikipedia)
The Bocskai Hall also houses organisations on a permanent
basis.
Currently, the front section of the building is used by the
Consulate of the Republic of Hungary and the Hall is used
by the Hungarian Community and various other groups such as
choirs, meditation groups, language schools etc.
